The minimum inter professional wage (SMI) is the minimum remuneration that a worker must receive for the legal working day, regardless of their type of contract. The SMI establishes the minimum legal limit that employers must pay their employees in compensation for their work. Legally, no worker can receive an income less than the minimum wage.

In 2024, the minimum inter professional salary is set at 1,080 gross euros per month in 14 payments, that is, 15,120 gross euros per year . The SMI increases aim to guarantee sufficient remuneration for workers, maintain their purchasing power in the face of the rise in the cost of living due to inflation , and ensure that the SMI is at 60% of the average salary in 2024. What does the inter professional minimum wage include? The inter professional minimum wage is not equivalent to the base salary, but rather takes into account all payroll concepts, including possible salary supplements.
